Daria Saville has scored her first victory on clay this year after fending off a match point, admitting she "really needed this" for confidence.
After exiting round one of the Italian Open qualifying last week, the 31-year-old entered the WTA 125k event in Paris as Roland-Garros edges closer.

Trailing 4-5 and returning serve against Spain's Leyre Romero Gormaz in the third set, Saville rallied back after saving match point to win the remaining three games, claiming a successful 6-4 1-6 7-5 result to move into the round of 16.
"What a rollercoaster! I'm so happy to get my first win of the year on clay here in Paris, saving a match point," Saville said. "I really needed this, so I'm really excited and can't wait to get another chance."
The win ensured Saville her first singles triumph since defeating Australian compatriot Olivia Gadecki at the end of March.
Saville, currently ranked world No.132, will be one of 12 Aussies placed in French Open qualifying after reciprocal wildcards were awarded to Destanee Aiava and Tristan Schoolkate.
Qualifying for the second Grand Slam of 2025 commences Monday May 19, with Day 1 of main draw action set for Sunday May 25.
