Wimbledon finalist faces minor setback after undergoing surgery

Recent Wimbledon runner-up Karolína Muchová has confirmed she will miss "a few weeks" after undergoing a "small surgery".

This time last week, the world No.6 lost the Wimbledon final to Czech compatriot Linda Nosková in three sets.

"I had to undergo a small surgery that will keep me off the court for a few weeks," said Muchová.

"Everything went well, and I'm already working on my recovery."

The 29-year-old didn't go into detail about the specifics of the injury or her expected return date, but updated fans about her decision to skip the upcoming WTA 1000 event in Toronto, Canada, commencing on August 1.

"Sad to be missing Toronto this year," she said in her Instagram story. "I was really looking forward to making my debut there, but recovery comes first."

Muchová is now in a race against time to be fit for the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open, which starts at the end of August.
