23rd seed Talia Gibson shook off her experienced opponent in the first-round of French Open qualifying to join two other Aussie women victors, extending their stay.
Gibson, 20, was seeking redemption after suffering a 1-6 1-6 defeat in her debut qualifying campaign in Paris last year, and she achieved exactly that with a 6-2 6-3 win over Romania's Mihaela Buzârnescu.

In an astonishing result, Astra Sharma dropped just 14 points to double bagel world No.263 Emina Betkas in 36 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Daria Saville edged closer to her ninth Roland-Garros main draw appearance thanks to a 7-6(2) 6-2 after toppling Heather Watson.
Those respective victories pave the way for six Australians to continue their quest for a main draw berth.
On a sombre note, Omar Jasika and Li Tu crashed out of the first-round despite forcing a decider in both matches, while Lizette Cabrera and Storm Hunter exited in straight sets.
Day 3 Aussie schedule - Wednesday night/Thursday morning AEST
Bernard Tomic v Ethan Quinn [11] [USA] (6pm AEST)
Maddison Inglis v Kristina Dmitruk [Belarus] (6pm AEST)
Jason Kubler v James Trotter [Japan] (Not before 7:10pm AEST)
Daria Saville [26] v Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard [France] (Not before 7:10pm)
Talia Gibson [23] v Julia Riera [Argentina] (Not before 10:40pm AEST)
Astra Sharma v Leyre Romero Gormaz [Spain] (Not before 10:40pm AEST)
130 ranking places between them, Bernard Tomic is in for a tough day at the office against 11th seed Ethan Quinn, with the 21-year-old American taking out Jordan Thompson earlier this year on the Houston clay.
Tomic defeated Coleman Wong in the opening round to secure his first win at a Slam since Wimbledon qualifying in 2021.
After recording her first-ever victory at Roland-Garros, Maddison Inglis will be hoping for back-to-back wins. Jason Kubler could join her with a winnable matchup against James Trotter.
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's sister, Daphnée, could potentially end Saville's tournament, as Gibson and Sharma will need to be at their best if they are to qualify for the final round.
